Pall-Ex Group, a leading logistics operator in Leicestershire, has promoted Barry Byers to the newly established role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Since joining the company in 2020 as Managing Director for the UK Business Units, Barry has played a key role in leading the group’s two UK pallet networks, Pall-Ex and Fortec, navigating through some of the toughest periods in the industry.
With nearly three decades of experience in logistics, Byers is now poised to steer the company’s operations and drive its future growth. His appointment comes as part of Pall-Ex Group’s leadership overhaul, aligning with their growth plans across both the UK and European markets.
Pall-Ex Group’s leadership structure will continue with Kevin Buchanan as Chief Executive Officer, who will focus on overseeing major strategic projects. Alongside Byers, Dave Dunhill will maintain his position as Chief Technology Officer, while Paul Robins will step into the role of Chief Financial Officer.
Since joining Pall-Ex Group, Byers has led significant projects that contributed to strong growth for both Pall-Ex and Fortec. He has been instrumental in expanding the company’s nationwide storage and fulfillment network, enhancing opportunities for the company’s members and marking a shift in the company’s identity as it moves beyond being a simple pallet network.
Upon accepting his new position, Barry Byers shared, “I would like to express my gratitude to the board of directors and the Pall-Ex and Fortec shareholder members for the support they have demonstrated during the past five years. I have enjoyed my role as Managing Director immensely and am delighted to accept this new challenge to lead the business over the years ahead.”
