In this role, Tom will oversee the company’s people strategy, organisational transformation, workforce planning, HR operations and digital HR agenda. His appointment supports OVO’s Plan Zero mission and its focus on building a fair, green and future ready energy workforce.
Tom joins OVO after spending nearly 10 years at HSBC. Most recently, he served as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer for People Governance and Communications. In this enterprise wide role, he was a member of HSBC’s Global HR Executive Committee and led large scale global HR operations. His responsibilities included digital HR transformation, workforce planning, payroll consolidation and emerging technology initiatives, while managing major HR service operations and transformation portfolios.
Before this, Tom held the role of Managing Director and Global Head of HR for Finance and HR. He worked closely with HSBC’s Group CFO and CHRO, delivering people strategy, HR services and organisation design across core finance and HR functions. These teams supported more than 11000 employees globally.
Earlier in his tenure at HSBC, Tom served as Managing Director and Global Head of HR for Wholesale COO, as well as Managing Director and Head of People Strategy and Transformation for Global CMB and GBM. In these roles, he led global organisation design, talent strategy, workforce transformation and large scale HR operating model initiatives across banking divisions with thousands of employees worldwide.
Prior to joining HSBC, Tom built his professional foundation at Deloitte. He progressed from Analyst to Senior Manager, delivering HR strategy, operating model transformation and shared services implementations for global clients across financial services, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals and logistics.
His appointment strengthens OVO’s leadership bench as the company continues to align people, culture and capability with its sustainability goals.
