Orion Security Secures $6M Seed Funding To Revolutionize AI-Driven Data Protection

Orion Security, an AI-driven data protection platform, has secured $6 million in seed funding, led by Pico Partners and FXP, with contributions from Underscore VC and cybersecurity experts, including the founders of Perimeter 81 and the CISO of Elastic. Founded by CEO Nitay Milner, a former product leader at Cisco-acquired Epsagon, and CTO Yonatan Kreiner, who previously led application security at WalkMe, Orion is already being utilized by top technology firms.

Data theft poses a significant cybersecurity risk for businesses, and the emergence of generative AI has heightened these threats. These risks go beyond unintentional exposure, as evidenced by state-sponsored groups infiltrating organizations with fake IT personnel to access sensitive information.

Orion Security addresses these issues by transforming the way organizations safeguard sensitive data. Instead of depending on strict rules and manual policies, Orion’s platform autonomously learns and comprehends typical data flows within an organization. This context-aware strategy enables Orion to effectively differentiate between legitimate business operations and potential data theft or exposure, whether deliberate or accidental.

The platform integrates with an organization’s cloud services, browsers, and devices to create a detailed map of data movement across the business. Its Indicators of Leakage (IOL) engine employs proprietary reasoning models to scrutinize data movement and usage patterns, utilizing LLM classification for contextual understanding. Additionally, it automatically identifies potential data breaches while integrating smoothly with existing security tools. This method allows Orion to detect risky behaviors without inundating security teams with false alarms, all while requiring minimal setup and upkeep.

“Today’s data protection tools are failing because they lack the crucial business context needed to understand what’s truly risky. By using AI to map and understand an organization’s operational DNA, we’re enabling a new generation of data protection that can accurately distinguish between legitimate business workflows and potential data theft, without burdening already overstretched security teams.” – Nitay Milner, CEO and co-founder of Orion Security.
