Oracle and Salesforce Cut Hundreds of Jobs in US as Tech Layoffs Persist

The wave of layoffs in the technology sector shows no sign of slowing down, with Oracle and Salesforce confirming fresh job cuts in the United States. The companies are eliminating hundreds of roles across California and Washington as part of broader restructuring plans aimed at shifting resources towards high-growth areas.

Job cuts in California
In California’s Bay Area, Salesforce has reduced 262 positions in San Francisco, while Oracle has let go of 254 employees across Redwood City, Pleasanton and Santa Clara. Together, the two software giants are cutting more than 500 jobs in the region. The companies confirmed that these permanent layoffs will take effect around November 3, 2025.

Seattle region also affected
The downsizing extends to Washington as well. In the Seattle area, Salesforce has removed 93 roles across its Bellevue and Seattle offices, while Oracle has reduced its workforce by 101 positions. This brings the total number of cuts in the region to nearly 200.

Companies frame it as restructuring
Both Oracle and Salesforce described the move as part of a restructuring effort to realign operations and redirect investments into cloud services and AI-focused solutions. A Salesforce spokesperson said, “We continuously assess our structure and rebalance as needed to best serve our customers and fuel growth areas.”

Layoffs add to industry toll
These job cuts are the latest in a string of workforce reductions across the tech industry. Since 2022, Oracle has laid off 744 employees in the Bay Area alone, while Salesforce has cut more than 1,450 jobs in the same region. Analysts say the trend highlights how software companies are adapting to shifting market demands and rising competition, with a sharper focus on emerging technologies.
