Optus, Australia’s second-largest telecommunications provider, has teamed up with Nokia in a strategic partnership aimed at significantly enhancing the reliability and efficiency of voice services for its over 10 million customers. This collaboration will see Optus refreshing its Voice Platform (IP Multimedia Subsystem – IMS) with Nokia’s advanced cloud-native solutions.
The core of this partnership involves the deployment of Nokia’s Cloud Native Communication Suite (CNCS). This platform is renowned for its cloud-native architecture, which promises improved operational efficiency and reduced energy consumption, making it well-suited for the demands of modern telecommunications.
“Reliability is a cornerstone of Optus’s network strategy,” stated Tony Baird, Chief Technology Officer at Optus. He emphasized that the Nokia CNCS platform will bolster network resiliency, enhance security, and improve the overall subscriber experience through intelligent automation tools, supporting both on-premise and cloud deployments.
Raghav Sahgal, President of Cloud and Network Services at Nokia, highlighted the benefits of the CNCS architecture, noting that it will “accelerate the delivery of new 5G services in multi-cloud environments, simplify network complexity, and enable operators to respond faster to customer needs with a superior experience.”
This partnership underscores Optus’s commitment to delivering high-quality, efficient, and reliable 5G voice services, leveraging Nokia’s expertise to meet the evolving needs of its vast customer base across Australia.
