Oppo unveils LUMO Image Engine ahead of Find X9 Series launch

Oppo has announced the launch of its latest imaging innovation, the LUMO Image Engine, which will debut with the upcoming Find X9 Series. The new system combines advanced optics, colour science, sensor control, and computational processing to deliver lifelike visuals that replicate how the human eye perceives reality.

Human-centred imaging innovation

LUMO is designed to produce natural-looking images with accurate tones, realistic depth, and smooth transitions. Instead of relying on artificial enhancements or heavy HDR effects, it captures authentic lighting and skin tones while maintaining clarity and depth across the frame. The platform focuses on delivering images that feel intuitive and true to life.

Four pillars of imaging excellence

At the heart of LUMO lies a comprehensive system built on four key components.

The Ultra-Sensing Computational Optical System ensures clarity across all focal lengths using large-aperture modules and ultra-crystal blue glass that improves light transmission by 81 per cent. It supports focal lengths ranging from 15mm ultra-wide to 135mm telephoto, with reduced colour distortion and sharper detail. The Ultra-Fast Focusing System increases focus speed by 30 per cent, locking onto moving subjects instantly.

The Multimodal Colour Sensing System features the industry’s first True Colour Camera that adjusts localised colour temperature for balanced tones. The High-Precision Depth Sensing System uses pixel-level AI mapping for natural subject-background separation with smooth bokeh.

Advanced digital imaging intelligence

The Ultra-Perceptive Digital Imaging Engine integrates four intelligent processing engines:

  • True Colour Engine for balanced tones across lighting conditions.
  • Computational Optical Bokeh Engine for professional-grade depth effects.
  • HyperTone Image Engine for accurate tonal restoration and nuanced contrast.
  • Lightning Snap Engine for motion-free, sharp captures.

End-to-end ProXDR experience

LUMO incorporates the world’s first RGB 3D Photon Matrix Computation, enabling 16-bit high dynamic range imaging. Its ProXDR ecosystem preserves colour fidelity and detail through capture, editing, and sharing, while the Motion Photo Ecosystem maintains the same quality for short motion clips across platforms.

Powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9500

Operating on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 platform, LUMO uses the Imagiq NPU and ISP for real-time colour, depth, and motion analysis. Enhanced thermal design supports long 4K recording sessions without performance loss.

LUMO forms the foundation of Oppo’s imaging technology, offering professional-grade results effortlessly. It will debut in India with the Find X9 Series on 18 November.
