Oppo Pad 5 Matte Display Edition focuses on productivity and note taking

Tablets are still popular because of their slim design and large screens, but Oppo is trying to push the category further with its latest release. The Oppo Pad 5 Matte Display Edition was launched alongside the Reno 15 series and is positioned as more than just a device for watching videos. With a matte display and built in AI based tools, the tablet aims to serve students and professionals who need a productivity focused device.

The biggest highlight of the Oppo Pad 5 Matte Display Edition is its 12.1 inch IPS LCD with a nano etched matte finish. Oppo claims this reduces reflections by up to 97% and cuts harmful blue light by up to 70%. The display carries TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care 4.0 and Reflection Free certifications. It offers a 2.8K resolution of 2800 x 1980 pixels, peak brightness of up to 900 nits and a 7:5 aspect ratio that feels closer to reading a book. While the matte finish resists fingerprints well, the screen lacks official protective glass and the thick bezels give it a slightly dated look. The tablet has an 8 MP front camera, quad speakers, USB C charging, a SIM slot with microSD support and comes in an Aurora Pink finish that resists smudges. There is no dust or water resistance.

Powering the tablet is a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra processor paired with 8 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage, expandable via microSD. It runs Android 16 with ColorOS 16.0 and supports up to 8 GB of virtual RAM. The tablet handles everyday tasks smoothly and can run demanding games on low settings. The matte display remains clear even under bright light and covers up to 98% of the DCI P3 color space. Audio from the quad speakers is clear, though bass is limited. Battery life is strong, with the 10500 mAh battery lasting over a full day and a half and delivering 16 hours and 26 minutes in benchmark testing.

What sets the tablet apart is its Notes app and AI Writer features. Users can create notes, tables and mind maps, proofread text and generate content using cloud based AI. Early buyers also receive the Oppo Pencil 2R and a smart keyboard case. Priced at RM2199 for the 5G version, the Oppo Pad 5 Matte Display Edition offers good value for users who want comfortable reading, reliable performance and strong note taking features in a midrange tablet.
