OpenArt Unveils One Click Story To Turn Text Into AI Powered “Brain Rot” Videos

OpenArt, a start up founded in 2022 by two former Google engineers, has launched its One Click Story feature in open beta. The tool can transform a sentence, script or song into a one minute video, tapping into the viral “brain rot” style popular among younger audiences.

The OpenArt platform, which has around three million monthly active users, offers three templates – Character Vlog, Music Video and Explainer. Users can type a prompt and optionally upload an image or song. The AI engine then creates a storyboard and renders scenes. For music uploads, the software analyses lyrics and synchronises visuals with the song’s themes.

Creators can edit their videos in storyboard mode and choose from over 50 AI models, including DALLE 3, GPT, Imagen, Flux Kontext and Stable Diffusion. The company says this flexibility allows for quick results or more customised outputs.

OpenArt runs on a credit based subscription model. Plans start at $14 per month for 4,000 credits, going up to $56 per month, with customised pricing for teams. The start up has raised $5 million from Basis Set Ventures and DCM Ventures, is cash flow positive and is on track for an annualised revenue run rate of over $20 million.

The OpenArt launch raises questions over copyright and safety. During testing, the Character Vlog template occasionally suggested or created content featuring well known intellectual property such as Pikachu, SpongeBob and Super Mario. Chief executive Coco Mao said the system attempts to block such content but admitted “sometimes it slips.” The company is open to licensing talks with rights holders but warns users that infringing material may be removed by platforms and could lead to legal issues.

Beyond copyright, the feature brings concerns about artist style imitation, misinformation and the ease of producing highly engaging yet potentially harmful visuals. OpenArt promotes its ability to keep a character visually consistent across a short story as a key advantage, though this could make misleading narratives more persuasive.

Future updates will include two character conversations and a dedicated mobile app. OpenArt sees One Click Story as a tool for both creators and advertisers, aiming to lower the technical barriers to narrative video creation while opening new commercial possibilities.
