OpenAI has made substantial improvements to its ChatGPT chatbot, enabling it to generate sophisticated images in addition to text-based chats. On Tuesday, the business released the most recent version, using new technology that lets ChatGPT produce intricate and realistic pictures in response to user input.
With the help of OpenAI’s GPT-4o model, the latest version is able to produce complex images, such as multi-panel comic strips with unique characters and dialogue. This is a significant improvement over earlier iterations that could generate images but had trouble combining several intricate ideas into a single result.
The evolution of chatbots into multipurpose tools is indicative of a larger trend in artificial intelligence. Voice commands, graphics, and even video interactions are now supported by ChatGPT, which was first created for text-based tasks like writing poems, answering queries, and creating code.
ChatGPT was initially released by OpenAI in late 2022 after being trained on a large volume of text data from the internet. OpenAI eventually launched DALL-E, a separate program made specifically for picture production, even if the chatbot didn’t have that capability at first. However, the most recent version of ChatGPT combines these features into a single, more potent system that can learn from both visual and textual input.
In the past, AI picture generators have had trouble producing images that differ much from preexisting examples. But according to OpenAI, the new ChatGPT is now better equipped to manage requests for unusual visuals, such a triangular-wheeled bicycle.
Both free and paid users will be able to use the updated ChatGPT starting on Tuesday. The newest AI tools from OpenAI will also be available to ChatGPT Plus ($20 per month) and ChatGPT Pro ($200 per month) subscribers.
