OpenAI might soon introduce a new subscription tier called ‘Go’ for ChatGPT users, which is expected to be more affordable than the current Plus plan that costs $20 or around Rs 1,750 per month.
The possibility of this budget-friendly plan came to light after a tech tipster shared a screenshot from the ChatGPT web app’s code, hinting at the development of the new ‘Go’ plan. While OpenAI has not officially confirmed any details, the code suggests that the Go plan could be in the works.
Although there is no confirmed information about what features will be included, it is speculated that the Go plan may provide access to some of the newer language models, such as o3 and o4-mini-high. However, it may not include advanced tools like agents or Sora, which are typically reserved for higher-tier plans.
Currently, OpenAI offers two paid subscriptions: Plus and Pro. The Plus plan is meant for everyday users who want early access to new features, while the Pro plan, priced at $200 per month, is targeted at developers and professionals who require full access to all tools and models, including advanced capabilities.
In addition to the potential launch of ChatGPT Go, OpenAI appears to be testing new features for its web version. A limited rollout has introduced a ‘Favourites’ section and a ‘Pin chat’ option, aimed at improving user experience and navigation.
Meanwhile, OpenAI is also preparing for the release of GPT-5, its most advanced language model yet. This upcoming model is expected to offer enhanced multimodal capabilities and deeper integration with tools like Sora and Canvas. However, its release has been postponed several times, reportedly due to safety concerns.
It is possible that the Go plan will be officially announced alongside GPT-5. Until then, users are advised to treat this information as tentative, as OpenAI may decide to alter or cancel the plan before launch.
