OpenAI may decide to charge monthly fee of up to $20,000 for advanced AI agents

OpenAI may choose to charge up to $20,000 per month for sophisticated AI agents, including one that operates at the PhD level, stated by media.

It has been stated that OpenAI is developing a variety of AI agents that are appropriate for different occupations, such helping with software engineering or sales. Depending on the AI agent’s degree of competence, subscriptions might cost $2,000 or even $10,000 per month.

In the meanwhile, a subscriber may have to pay $20,000 a month for the PhD-level AI agent.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman asked for input on how to maximize customers’ current costs, although the company has not yet confirmed the availability of such profitable AI solutions.

“[A]n idea for paid plans: your $20 plus subscription converts to credits you can use across features like deep research, o1, gpt-4.5, sora, etc. no fixed limits per feature and you choose what you want; if you run out of credits you can buy more. what do you think? good/bad?” asked Altman on X on March 5.
