OnePlus has announced a partnership with Indian electronics manufacturing services provider Bhagwati Products Limited to begin local production of its tablets in India. Under this collaboration, the recently launched OnePlus Pad Lite and OnePlus Pad 3 will be assembled at BPL’s facility in Greater Noida. This move is part of OnePlus’ ongoing efforts to strengthen its supply chain and meet the growing demand for locally produced devices.
The company stated that tablet production has already begun at BPL’s main facility, which will provide the infrastructure and support needed to localise and expand OnePlus’ manufacturing for the Indian market. The brand already manufactures its smartphones in the country.
This development is a part of OnePlus’ Project Starlight initiative, which was announced in 2024. As part of this plan, the company committed to investing Rs. 6,000 crore over three years starting from 2024 to enhance local operations and expand its service centre network across India. The initiative aims to increase domestic manufacturing capabilities and strengthen local integration.
Speaking about the collaboration, Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India, said, “The collaboration with BPL marks a strategic milestone in our India journey towards deepening our manufacturing capabilities and expanding our connected ecosystem. By localising tablet production, we are not only reinforcing our commitment to India, but also creating meaningful value for our user community.”
The OnePlus Pad Lite starts at Rs. 15,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage Wi-Fi variant. It features an 11-inch HD+ LCD display, a MediaTek Helio G100 chipset, a 9,340mAh battery, and supports 33W wired fast charging.
The OnePlus Pad 3, which will be available in India from September, comes with a 13.2-inch display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a 12,140mAh battery, and 80W fast charging support. Its price in India is yet to be announced.
