OnePlus has announced a shift in its India strategy, shutting down offline sales and returning to its direct-to-consumer model while significantly expanding its after-sales service network.
The company said it will increase its authorised service centres by 50% from April 2026, taking the total from around 400 to over 600 centres across more than 500 cities. The expansion will be enabled through OPPO’s existing service network, allowing broader reach without building new infrastructure.
This move is aimed at improving customer experience by reducing wait times and travel distances for repairs. A wider network means fewer instances of devices being sent to other cities, an issue commonly faced in smaller towns. OnePlus also confirmed that support will continue to include trained technicians and genuine spare parts.
“OnePlus has reaffirmed its commitment to its direct-to-consumer model — the channel that first established the brand and built its loyal following in India. By returning its roots, OnePlus will deepen its engagement with its core community of tech enthusiasts and digital-first consumers, while bringing greater value through competitive pricing and a sharpened focus on innovation tailored for the Indian market.”
The announcement comes amid ongoing discussions around the company’s global operations. Earlier reports had suggested a possible global shutdown, which OnePlus denied. There have also been unconfirmed reports of a potential pullback from parts of Europe and the U.S., along with the recent exit of India CEO Robin Liu.
Despite this, OnePlus maintains that its India operations remain stable, with no disruption to services, warranties, or updates.
The company is also preparing to launch the OnePlus Nord 6 in India on April 7, signalling continued focus on the market. The device is expected to target the mid-range and sub-flagship segments, where competition from brands like Xiaomi, Samsung, and iQOO remains strong.
With new products in the pipeline and an expanded service network, OnePlus appears to be reinforcing its India presence, even as questions around its global strategy persist.
