Rising component costs are set to impact smartphone pricing, with Oppo and OnePlus announcing plans to increase prices for several existing devices starting March 16, 2026.
The decision comes amid ongoing supply pressures in the global smartphone industry, particularly due to shortages of RAM and storage components. Market analysts have warned that these supply constraints could significantly affect smartphone production and pricing.
A recent industry forecast also suggested that the global smartphone market could shrink by about 13% this year, a decline larger than the drop seen during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Chinese smartphone manufacturers are expected to face some of the strongest impacts from these market conditions.
According to a notice shared through its online store, Oppo confirmed that the rising costs of key mobile phone components have forced the company to revise pricing for certain existing products.
“Dear user,
In response to rising costs of several key mobile phone components, including high-speed storafge hardware, we have made the following decision after careful evaluation: Starting from 0:00 on March 16, 2026, Oppo will adjust the prices of some of its already-released products in order to continue to ensure excellent product quality and user experience.”
The company added that the price adjustments will mainly affect its Oppo A Series, Oppo K Series, and OnePlus smartphones.
However, Oppo confirmed that its flagship product lines will not be affected for now. Devices under the Oppo Find series, Reno series, and Oppo Pad series will remain unchanged at current prices.
At present, it remains unclear whether the price increases will extend beyond the Chinese market or affect OnePlus smartphones sold in the United States and other regions.
The announcement highlights the ongoing pressure on smartphone manufacturers as component shortages and rising production costs continue to impact the global electronics market.
