Ola’s Krutrim to Debut Kruti, India’s First Agentic AI Assistant, on June 12

Krutrim, the artificial intelligence division of Ola founded by Bhavish Aggarwal, is gearing up for a major milestone: the launch of its voice‑based AI assistant Kruti on June 12

Dubbed India’s first “agentic” AI assistant, Kruti is designed not just to respond, but to “listen, adapt and act proactively, purposefully and in your language,” as shared by Krutrim in a post

According to Krutrim, Kruti is more than a chatbot—it has distinct modes aimed at different user needs:Instant for quick answers, Insightful for deeper reasoning and In‑depth for comprehensive research. Bhavish Aggarwal emphasizes that the team worked “a lot to make a product as good as the global apps, but better for the Indian users”

The launch comes amid growing criticism of Krutrim’s existing offerings—including its LLMs and cloud products.

Multiple founders and developers have told Media that these earlier tools were technically immature, criticising their poor documentation and recurring login errors like “logged out of session,” which hindered adoption

One concerned developer went so far as to say their platforms were “subpar and lacking technical maturity compared to hyperscalers”

Krutrim made waves in January 2024 after raising $50 million and becoming India’s first AI unicorn, with ambitions to rival global giants Yet according to insiders, its cloud services struggle to attract customers, with enterprises preferring Google Cloud, AWS, or Microsoft instead

Krutrim is betting big on its AI assistant to overcome these early setbacks. The company describes Kruti as a breakthrough leap beyond conventional chatbots, aiming to set new standards for Indian‑language, proactive AI

With global comparisons looming—from ChatGPT to Gemini—Kruti’s fate may well determine whether Krutrim can live up to its unicorn status and fulfill its mission: to build a fully made-in‑India AI stack capable of matching leading global offerings .

With the launch of Kruti, the startup aims to leap over past technical hurdles and cement its position in the Indian AI ecosystem. Whether its agentic approach resonates with users will reveal if Krutrim truly can challenge global leaders on its home turf.
