A specialized workshop on “Cyber Crime Investigation and Cyber Intelligence” was inaugurated today at the Cyber Complex in Bhubaneswar, initiated by the State Crime Branch.
Odisha’s Director General of Police (DGP), Shri Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, was the chief guest at the event and officially launched the workshop.
The workshop is designed to equip officers at all levels and districts with essential skills to fight cybercrime. Participants will include personnel from constables to senior officials, ensuring a thorough training approach. This initiative will provide investigators with effective techniques for detecting cybercrime and enhance their ability to manage cyber-related offenses.
Acknowledging the growing impact of cybercriminals on everyday life, the Odisha government has sanctioned the creation of 20 new cyber and economic offense police stations throughout the state. These specialized units will be crucial in preventing cyber crimes like financial fraud, identity theft, digital extortion, and exploitation.
Furthermore, the government plans to establish the Odisha Cyber Command Centre in Bhubaneswar to improve cybercrime detection and support for victims. DGP Khurania highlighted the necessity of ongoing training and technological advancement for law enforcement to effectively address complex cyber threats.
Cybercrime expert Dr. Rakshit Tandon led the training sessions for officers from different districts, sharing insights on cyber investigation methods and digital intelligence strategies. The workshop wrapped up with a vote of thanks from DIG STF Shri Pinak Mishra.
