Nykaa introduces Skin Scan, an AI powered skin analysis tool

Nykaa has launched a new AI based skin analysis feature called Skin Scan on its app. The tool is designed to help users get personalised skincare recommendations within seconds. With this feature, users can take a simple selfie and receive a detailed assessment of their skin.

Skin Scan uses real time camera tracking to study up to fifteen skin parameters. These include tone, texture, hydration, ageing, dark spots, pores, oiliness, acne, redness and under eye concerns. The results appear as a visual map on the user’s photo, with simple notes that show if a skin concern needs attention or is in good condition. Each concern is also given a score from one to one hundred so that users can track changes over time.

Based on these scores, the feature creates a customised skincare routine. It selects cleansers, serums, moisturisers, sunscreens and treatments from Nykaa’s range and links each product to the concern it is meant to address. This helps users avoid confusion and choose products with more confidence.

The company states that the tool uses deep learning models trained on more than seventy thousand medically graded images. This allows the system to provide an expert level evaluation. Skin Scan also gives insights such as estimated skin age and comparisons with people in the same age group. These details are designed to motivate users and support their skincare goals.

Skin Scan is now available on the Nykaa app. Users can update their app and visit the Skin section to try the new feature.
