In a major push toward next-generation connectivity, NVIDIA has teamed up with a coalition of leading technology and telecom companies to build open, secure, and AI-powered 6G networks. The announcement was made ahead of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The collaboration focuses on embedding artificial intelligence across every layer of network infrastructure, from hardware to cloud services. The goal is to prepare networks for an AI-first future.
The coalition brings together major players such as BT Group, Cisco, Ericsson, Nokia, T-Mobile, SK Telecom, and SoftBank Corp..
Their primary objective is to develop software-based AI-Radio Access Networks (AI-RAN). These networks will be interoperable and capable of supporting real-time applications such as autonomous robots and intelligent machines.
The partnership represents a key step in building infrastructure designed specifically for AI-powered use cases.
Alongside the collaboration, NVIDIA introduced a new telecom model aimed at accelerating AI integration in network systems.
CEO Jensen Huang highlighted the shift in computing, stating, “AI is redefining computing and driving the largest infrastructure buildout in human history—and telecommunications is next.”
The open framework is expected to create opportunities for start-ups to enter the market. As 6G networks are being designed to support a massive number of connected devices, this approach could expand innovation across the ecosystem.
