Nvidia expands cloud gaming reach with GeForce Now app for Amazon Fire TV devices

Cloud gaming is moving closer to living room screens as Nvidia continues to broaden access to its streaming platform ahead of its India launch. The company has announced the rollout of a dedicated GeForce Now app for select Amazon Fire TV Stick models, allowing users to stream high-quality games directly through streaming devices.

The US-based tech giant, Nvidia, recently showcased its GeForce Now cloud gaming service in India in February, highlighting its ability to stream games across smartphones, smart TVs, tablets, laptops, and browsers without requiring high-end hardware. The service is expected to launch in India soon.

Previously limited to PCs, laptops, smartphones, tablets, and select smart TVs, the new dedicated app now brings cloud gaming to compatible Fire TV streaming sticks from Amazon. The app is currently available on Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2nd Gen) and Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) running Fire OS 8.1.6.0 or later versions.

The company also confirmed support for Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st Gen) devices operating on Fire OS 7.7.1.1 and newer versions, with plans to expand availability to additional Fire TV devices in the future.

With the dedicated app, users can stream games at up to 1080p/60 fps using standard-dynamic-range graphics, supported by H.264 video encoding and stereo audio. Players can connect compatible controllers to enjoy gameplay directly on their TVs without owning a gaming console or a high-performance PC.

Instead of running games locally, titles are streamed through cloud servers. This includes AAA releases such as 007: First Light, developed by IO Interactive. Nvidia recently expanded the app’s reach further by introducing support for devices running Linux, adding to existing compatibility with Windows and Mac systems.

Earlier on February 10, Nvidia demonstrated GeForce Now’s capabilities in India and confirmed the service will arrive in the country soon. Once launched, it will compete with cloud gaming offerings such as Microsoft’s Xbox cloud gaming service, which became available in India in November 2025.
