Targeting 60 villages that have been recognized as significant sites of online fraud and digital criminal activity, the Nuh district government has started a grassroots project called “Cyber Warrior Panchayats” in an effort to combat the growing cybercrime profile of the area.
The move coincides with Nuh’s increasing notoriety as a national hotspot for cybercrimes. Investigative authorities have identified villages in Punhana, Ferozepur Jhirka, and Tauru blocks for harboring sophisticated fraud networks that use mule accounts, digital wallets, and cloned SIMs through a number of interstate crackdowns.
“Cybercrime poses a serious and growing threat, and we must act decisively to protect innocent citizens,” said chief minister Nayab Singh Saini at a Mewat Development Board meeting on Friday. “These Cyber Warrior Panchayats will serve as our grassroots defence mechanism—empowered villages are our first line of resistance,” he added.
According to district officials, the 60 chosen villages have demonstrated recurring patterns of cybercrime, particularly in the areas of phishing schemes, online impersonation, and bank fraud. According to police, the district has seen over 1,000 FIRs connected to cyber fraud filed in the last three years.
Deputy commissioner (Nuh) Vishram Kumar Meena said, “This is not just about enforcement but education. We want to build digital resilience within our villages. Our ultimate goal is to convert all panchayats in Nuh into informed, vigilant cyber warriors.”
The program would provide internet literacy training to local influencers, schoolteachers, young volunteers, and panchayat members. According to district authorities, they will work as advocates for cyber awareness by distributing door-to-door campaigns, alerting people to fraud, and reporting questionable activities.
In order to teach residents how to recognize and report fraud, the government will also work with banks, telecom companies, IT specialists, and the cyber division of the Haryana Police. According to authorities, digital hygiene training will be taught in schools and universities as part of the curriculum. The implementation will take place in stages over the next several months.
