In a short yet impactful exchange on social media, Zerodha cofounder Nikhil Kamath and Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas have sparked speculation about a potential collaboration that could transform how Indian stock market updates are delivered.
The conversation began when Prudent AI suggested on X, “Why don’t @perplexity_ai team up with @zerodhaonline and add Indian stock markets to the Comet finance page?” Aravind Srinivas responded by tagging Kamath and asking, “Should we?” Kamath quickly replied, “Absolutely, setting up a call for Monday…”
Although no official partnership has been announced, the scheduled call indicates that serious discussions may be in progress, attracting attention from both the finance and technology communities.
About Comet
Comet is an AI-native browser launched by Perplexity in July this year. It merges traditional browsing with real-time AI assistance capable of reading, summarising, and acting on live data. Designed for tasks like tracking financial markets, Comet “transforms entire browsing sessions into single, seamless interactions, collapsing complex workflows into fluid conversations,” according to the company’s website. Currently, it is available to Perplexity Max users on an invite-only basis, with gradual rollout planned.
Why The Collaboration Could Work
Zerodha, India’s largest stock brokerage platform with over 12 million active clients, could benefit from integrating live Indian market data into Comet. This would give global, tech-savvy users access to trusted market information directly in an AI-powered browsing experience.
For Perplexity, partnering with Zerodha would align with its vision of turning browser search into an “answer engine” that delivers instant, accurate, and cited results. Founded in 2022, Perplexity is now valued at $18 billion, backed by industry leaders like Jeff Bezos, Nvidia, and experts from Google and Meta. The platform processes over a billion monthly queries and has distribution deals with brands such as Motorola and Airtel.
What It Could Mean For Investors
If this partnership moves forward, investors may soon access Indian stock market data seamlessly within Comet, removing the need for multiple tabs or platforms. Combining Zerodha’s market insights with Perplexity’s AI could make financial information more accessible, actionable, and efficient to navigate.
The outcome of Monday’s call could determine whether this collaboration becomes a reality, potentially setting a new standard for integrating AI and finance.
