Kerala-based semiconductor startup Netrasemi has secured Rs 107 crore, or approximately 12.5 million dollars, in its Series A funding round. The investment was co-led by Zoho Corporation and Unicorn India Ventures.Â
Earlier, the company had raised Rs 10 crore in a pre-Series A round from Unicorn India Ventures and Rs 8.3 crore through earlier seed funding rounds.Â
Netrasemi announced that the fresh funds will be used to boost research and development, scale up manufacturing capabilities, strengthen marketing efforts, and meet the compute platform needs of original equipment manufacturers.Â
Founded in 2020 by Jyothis Indirabhai, Sreejith Varma and Deepa Geetha, Netrasemi specializes in developing system-on-chip solutions that power smart IoT devices, with a strong focus on video processing and handling complex AI workloads.Â
The company designs chips capable of running advanced AI-based analytics directly on edge devices, reducing reliance on cloud or server-based computing. This functionality is supported by Netrasemi’s energy-efficient AI acceleration core and its library of proprietary silicon intellectual properties.Â
Over the past year, Netrasemi has achieved significant progress including the completion of two edge AI chip designs with enhanced video features, the start of development for a CCTV AI camera chip tailored for the Indian market, and the establishment of key partnerships for development platforms and evaluation boards. The company has also signed multiple MOUs with international partners for product sampling and R&D collaborations.Â
Netrasemi confirmed that it has completed development of two system-on-chip products, which are now in the tapeout stage and targeting the 12 nanometer technology node by TSMC. Over the next 12 to 18 months, the company plans to begin full mask production of three SoC product families and start research on next-generation high-performance SoCs aimed at edge servers and smart NVR computing.Â
