Netflix updates kids’ profiles with a simpler and more engaging TV experience

Netflix has introduced a new TV layout for children’s profiles worldwide. The company says the goal of the update is to make it easier and faster for young viewers to find shows and movies they enjoy.

Earlier this year, Netflix redesigned the TV homepage for standard profiles with a cleaner interface, improved recommendations and an AI powered search option. The new update now brings a similar approach to kids’ profiles with added adjustments meant specifically for younger audiences.

The refreshed design offers a simpler homepage with a clearer arrangement of content. A new navigation bar is placed at the top of the screen that leads to a section called My Netflix. This section gathers everything a child has recently watched, saved or marked as a favorite in one place. Since many kids enjoy watching the same content repeatedly, this change is expected to make returning to favorite episodes much easier.

Netflix also says recommendations for kids will now update in real time just as they do for standard profiles. The idea is to reduce the time children spend scrolling and help them quickly find something they want to watch.

Some existing features remain unchanged. Character themed rows, the Mystery Box feature that suggests new titles and parental control settings are still available and work the same way.

Alongside these updates, Netflix also shared details about additional experiences coming to the platform. These include real time audience voting, live party games and podcasts. One example is a new show called Star Search which will introduce real time voting next year following previous experiments with Dinner Time Live with David Chang.

Netflix says the updated interface is designed to support a wider range of interactive content in the future. The company believes this flexible setup will make it easier to introduce new types of entertainment for kids and families.
