NetApp Teams Up With NVIDIA to Accelerate Agentic AI Adoption for Enterprise

NetApp®, a frontrunner in intelligent data infrastructure, has collaborated with NVIDIA to enhance the NVIDIA AI Data Platform reference design within the NetApp AIPod solution, with the goal of speeding up the enterprise adoption of agentic AI.

Powered by NetApp’s sophisticated data management features with ONTAP®, the NetApp AIPod solution, based on the NVIDIA AI Data Platform, allows companies to create secure and scalable AI data pipelines for activities like retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and inferencing, thereby unlocking the complete potential of AI innovation.

As organizations invest in AI to tackle complex challenges, they need intelligent data infrastructure that dismantles data silos that impede technological advancement. The latest NetApp Data Complexity report indicates that 79% of tech and business leaders believe that unifying their data estates is crucial for achieving optimal AI results by 2025.

As a NVIDIA-Certified Storage partner leveraging the NVIDIA AI Data Platform, NetApp provides AIPod users with intelligent data infrastructure. This infrastructure delivers the essential enterprise-level data management capabilities and scalability needed to remove data silos, enabling businesses to create high-performance AI systems and implement agentic AI to solve real-world issues.

Sandeep Singh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Storage at NetApp, stated, “A comprehensive understanding of business data is crucial for gaining a competitive edge in the intelligence era, and AI inferencing plays a key role. We have long believed that unified data storage is essential for maximizing the value of data. The emergence of agentic AI has reinforced this idea—true unified storage goes beyond multi-protocol storage and requires breaking down silos across on-premises and cloud environments, as well as every business function. We’re partnering with NVIDIA to provide connected storage tailored to the unique demands of AI.”

The NetApp AIPod solution, which is based on the NVIDIA AI Data Platform, utilizes NVIDIA’s accelerated computing features to operate NVIDIA NeMo Retriever microservices, connecting them to scalable storage. This reference design within NetApp AIPod improves enterprise data, allowing organizations to scan, index, classify, and retrieve large volumes of both private and public documents in real time. This procedure boosts AI agents as they evaluate and address intricate, multi-step challenges, assisting organizations in converting data into actionable insights and enhancing AI precision across various applications.

Rob Davis, Vice President of Storage Technology at NVIDIA, commented, “Agentic AI allows businesses to tackle complex problems with unparalleled speed and accuracy, but it only works when agents have quick access to high-quality data. The combination of the NVIDIA AI Data Platform and NetApp’s powerful storage and data management capabilities enables businesses to bring AI directly to their data, driving significant productivity improvements.”

The NVIDIA AI Data Platform aligns with NetApp’s goal of improving data management to speed up AI workflows. By utilizing continuously updated metadata and vectorization, the platform provides more timely, relevant, and precise results for AI queries, enhancing the efficiency of AI pipelines. NetApp stands as a leader in intelligent data infrastructure, delivering unified data storage, integrated data, operational services, and workload solutions that transform disruption into opportunity.
