Singapore tech firm NCS’s $130M AI Leap: Powering Innovation Across Asia Pacific

Singapore tech powerhouse NCS unveiled a bold plan to pour $130 million into AI over the next three years—aiming to build homegrown AI brains, kickstart industry-specific pilots and upskill its 13,000-strong team.

At its flagship Impact 2025 forum, Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong championed NCS’s move as a critical push to embed AI into businesses big and small, and to make sure everyone shares in the gains—from multinational banks to neighborhood SMEs.

Central to the rollout is Sunshine.AI, a trio of smart tools designed to supercharge:

  • Sunshine.Coder: An AI coding assistant supporting language conversion.
  • Sunshine.Operations: A platform designed to automate system log analysis.
  • Sunshine.Productivity: A suite of tools aimed at enhancing day-to-day tasks, such as summarization.
NCS is also teaming up with global leaders—Databricks for finance and utilities pilots, NVIDIA for next-gen agentic AI demos, plus alliances with AWS, Google Cloud, Dell and China’s Sunline—to fast-track real-world use cases.

Beyond efficiency gains, Singapore plans to nurture local flair in AI by rolling out Sea-Lion, a Southeast Asian language model. NCS is among the first adopters, setting the stage for regionally tuned AI that “speaks” local languages and respects cultural quirks.

With AI adoption among large firms already jumping from 17% to 44% in five years, and SME uptake inching up, NCS’s S$130 million play could be the catalyst that brings AI from boardrooms to back-offices—and into the hands of every startup and shopfront across Asia Pacific.
