Navi Mumbai International Airport will start commercial flights on December 25, 2025, according to an official statement from the airport operator. The inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 8 marked the beginning of a phased rollout focused on safety, reliability and passenger comfort.
The new airport is expected to ease pressure on the aviation network in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and provide additional capacity for growing travel demand. Navi Mumbai International Airport Private Limited said the first month of operations will follow a controlled schedule.
From December 25 the airport will operate for 12 hours daily, between 8 in the morning and 8 in the evening, managing 23 scheduled departures each day. It will handle up to 10 aircraft movements per hour during this initial phase.
The first flight to land at the airport will be IndiGo 6E460 from Bengaluru, scheduled to arrive at 8 in the morning. The first departure will follow soon after, with IndiGo 6E882 leaving for Hyderabad at 8.40 in the morning.
In the early weeks passengers will be able to fly with IndiGo Air India Express and Akasa Air to 16 key domestic destinations. From February 2026 the airport will move to full day operations and increase to 34 daily departures to support rising travel needs in the region.
