NASA opens media registration for crewed Artemis II Moon mission launch

NASA has started accepting media applications for the launch of Artemis II, the first crewed Moon mission under the Artemis program. The mission is targeted for early 2026 and will send four astronauts on a ten day journey around the Moon and back.

The crew includes NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, along with Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen. They will travel inside NASA’s Orion spacecraft, which will launch from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on the Space Launch System rocket. The test flight will help confirm the systems and technology required for future human missions into deep space.

International media representatives who are not US citizens must apply for accreditation by November 30. US based media must apply by December 8. Journalists with annual Kennedy Space Center badges are also required to submit an application. Those approved for the Artemis II launch will automatically receive access to all related pre launch activities, including the rollout of the fully integrated rocket and spacecraft scheduled weeks before the launch date. NASA will share further launch details at a later time.

Applications can be submitted online through the media accreditation portal. Due to high demand, space for launch activities will be limited. Approved media will receive confirmation by email along with information about launch procedures and events. NASA has also provided contact details for any accreditation or newsroom related questions.

The Artemis program represents a major phase of exploration and innovation. Artemis II will prepare the way for upcoming crewed missions to the lunar surface and set the foundation for the first human mission to Mars.
