Myntra partners with Google Cloud’s AI to enhance the home decor shopping experience

Myntra and Google Cloud have partnered to introduce Dream Room Inspirations, an AI-powered tool that will transform the way Indian consumers shop for home décor.

Using high-quality, style-specific photos, the functionality combines generative AI capabilities to let users see the aesthetics of their customized rooms. The application, which is based on Google Cloud’s Vertex AI and is driven by its Imagen 3 model, transforms text suggestions into very realistic images so that customers may view a variety of interior design concepts before deciding which ones to buy.

By providing a more engaging and personalized purchasing experience within the Myntra app, the e-commerce company seeks to revolutionize how consumers interact with home décor. Myntra hopes to increase its market share in India’s expanding home and leisure sector by implementing generative AI.

“Since the introduction of this category, we realised curation and inspiration-based shopping is core to the customer journey. Customers search for décor inspirations on the web before they decide on what to purchase,” said Lakshminarayan Swaminathan, Vice President, Product Management and Design, Myntra. “We are offering an experience that is both intuitive and immersive, ensuring that every home reflects the unique style of individuals.”

Similar to fashion, inspiration is a fundamental component of home category purchasing. In 2024, more than 20 million Indian customers bought home décor items online, per a research by Ken Research.

Dream Room Inspirations combines inspiration and purchasing within the app, going one step further in meeting client needs and meeting this increasing need. With themes including Bohemian Chic, Eclectic Flair, Chic Coastal, Modern Minimalist, and Indie Corner, the feature streamlines the inspiration, discovery, and buying process, assisting consumers in visualizing aesthetics and making better selections for their home furnishings.

“The feature exemplifies how generative AI can bridge the gap between inspiration and purchase, providing users with high-quality, visually stunning room images generated from text with remarkable precision,” said Mitesh Agarwal, Managing Director, Customer Growth Engine, Architecture, Solutions and Technology, Google Cloud APAC. “This collaboration highlights the potential of our technology to empower leading platforms like Myntra to redefine customer journeys and capitalise on the significant online demand in the home and furniture category.”

With a 60% annual surge in demand, Myntra’s Home category has become one of its fastest-growing market niches. Living and décor, kitchen, and appliances were among the categories that saw year-over-year growth of more than 100%. Myntra increased its selection by 70% in the last 12 months, and it currently offers over 500,000 styles from 1,700 brands. The portal offers over 40,000 new options each month to keep up with the growing demand.
