Mukesh Ambani unveils draft Reliance AI manifesto outlining long term vision

Reliance Industries Limited has released a draft artificial intelligence manifesto, outlining how the company plans to reshape its future with AI at the core of its operations and national ambitions.

Calling artificial intelligence the most consequential technological development in human history, Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani said the world has only seen a small part of what AI can achieve. “The world has so far seen only the tip of the iceberg of its possibilities, but is already in awe of it. Along with other breakthrough technologies, AI has the power which, if wisely used, can solve many of the most complex problems facing humankind,” he said in a detailed message to employees.

Ambani said Reliance is working to become an AI native deep tech company with advanced manufacturing capabilities, building on its role in India’s digital transformation. He described “Affordable AI for every Indian, to transform every aspect of the economy and life in India,” as the company’s core resolve.

The draft manifesto is divided into 2 parts. The first focuses on transforming how work is done within Reliance using AI, while the second looks at how the company’s businesses and philanthropic efforts can support India’s broader AI journey.

In Part 1, Reliance plans to redesign internal workflows using AI and agentic systems to reduce manual effort, improve decision making, and raise performance standards, while remaining safe, compliant, and trusted. The operating approach is built around 4 pillars: outcomes, workflows, platforms, and governance.

Work will be organised around clear outcomes such as customer experience, safety, speed, quality, cost, compliance, and growth. End to end workflows across procurement, supply chains, hiring, and manufacturing will be redesigned with AI to enable real time visibility and continuous improvement.

A common 12 layer digital functional core blueprint will guide platforms across businesses, with data as the foundation and AI as the acceleration layer. Governance will be embedded through digital policies, audit trails, and clear human accountability. Reliance also plans to run 5 weekly flywheels focused on real time data, operations, governance, learning, and AI driven automation with human oversight. Work will be organised through small cross functional pods with single objectives and clear ownership.

Part 2 outlines how Reliance can support India’s AI transformation by leveraging assets such as Jio’s 500 million strong subscriber base, Reliance Retail’s nationwide reach, and its energy, life sciences, financial services, and media businesses. Ambani also highlighted opportunities in green energy, healthcare, financial inclusion, robotics, AI hardware, and technology self reliance.

He further asked how Reliance Foundation can use AI to enhance healthcare, education, rural development, disaster response, culture, and conservation, guided by the group’s “We Care” philosophy and the creation of “caring AI systems.”

Employees have been invited to share feedback and ideas between January 10 and January 26, after which the manifesto will be finalised.

“This manifesto will be our shared commitment… to build a New Reliance and a New India of our dreams,” Ambani said.
