A major focus on artificial intelligence took center stage for Motorola at the Consumer Electronics Show 2026 in Las Vegas, where the company announced 2 significant AI initiatives.
Motorola introduced Qira, a unified AI platform designed to work across devices made by Motorola and Lenovo. The platform is built to retain context and memory across devices, offering users a more connected and consistent experience within the Lenovo Motorola ecosystem. Alongside this, the company also showcased a new proof of concept wearable called Project Maxwell. Motorola also revealed its first book style foldable smartphone, the razr fold.
In an official release, Motorola explained that Qira brings together the existing AI work of Lenovo and Motorola into a single platform. Until now, Lenovo used AI Now while Motorola relied on moto AI. This separation meant users could not carry conversations, context, or personalisation settings between devices such as laptops and smartphones.
Qira addresses this gap by becoming the shared AI platform for both brands. It enables cross device continuity and delivers a uniform experience across all supported products.
The platform is supported by partnerships with several technology leaders including Microsoft Copilot, Google, Qualcomm, Intel, and Perplexity AI. Qira combines on device processing with cloud assisted capabilities. It is designed to remember where a user stopped a task, understand ongoing context, anticipate needs, and respond more naturally compared to isolated AI assistants.
Motorola also presented Project Maxwell, described as an AI perceptive companion and a proof of concept wearable device. The device represents Motorola’s entry into AI companion technology and is designed to extend Qira’s intelligence into daily life without depending on a smartphone.
Developed by Motorola’s 312 Labs team, Project Maxwell is built to be always accessible and context aware. It uses inputs from a camera, microphone, and sensors to understand the user’s surroundings and deliver real time insights or suggestions.
The wearable uses multimodal perception fusion, allowing it to process visual and audio data together. Users can interact with it using natural language commands. With its context aware design, the device can respond to requests and also act on instructions. Motorola clarified that Project Maxwell is not yet a production ready product and did not share a launch timeline.
