Motorola is expected to expand its foldable smartphone lineup with the launch of its first book style folding phone, called the Motorola Razr Fold, in 2026, according to a tipster.
The upcoming handset is said to mark Motorola’s entry into the horizontally folding category, placing it in direct competition with devices like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, Google’s Pixel Fold lineup, and the expected iPhone Fold from Apple. The device could be teased at the Consumer Electronics Show 2026, which begins on January 6.
A tipster shared a promotional banner on social media that hints at the Motorola Razr Fold name. The image suggests the phone will feature several AI powered tools, though the company has not made any official announcement so far. More details are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
Speculation around Motorola’s first book style foldable has been building for some time. Recently, select journalists received invitations to CES 2026 from the company. The invitation included a diary with a wooden cover carrying the line “Every fold reveals a possibility”, further adding to expectations of a new foldable reveal at the event.
Until now, Motorola has focused only on vertically folding smartphones under its Razr series. However, with more brands entering the book style foldable market, the company appears ready to broaden its portfolio. Apple is also rumoured to debut its first foldable phone later this year, while Samsung recently unveiled its first twice folding device, the Galaxy Z TriFold, highlighting the rapid growth of the segment.
Motorola’s most recent foldable launch was the Razr 60 Ultra, which debuted in India in May 2025. The device was priced at Rs 99,999 for the single 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant. It features a 7 inch 1.5K pOLED LTPO inner display with up to 165Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 4,000 nits. On the outside, it offers a 4 inch pOLED LTPO cover display with up to 165Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 3,000 nits.
The Razr 60 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite octa core chipset and comes with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 internal storage. With the Razr Fold, Motorola is expected to take its next step in the evolving foldable smartphone market.
