Moto G96 5G with Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 Launching in India on July 9

Motorola is set to launch its new smartphone, the Moto G96 5G, in India on July 9. Aimed at the budget segment under ₹20,000, the device combines a sleek vegan leather finish with strong specs, making it a potential competitor to phones like the iQOO Z10 and Realme P3.

The Moto G96 will feature a 6.67 inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1,600 nits. The screen will also be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The device carries an IP68 rating, which means it can resist dust and can be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.

It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, the same chipset used in devices like the Motorola Edge 60 Stylus, Edge 60 Fusion and Poco X6. This ensures smooth performance for everyday tasks and gaming.

In terms of camera setup, the Moto G96 will include a 50MP Sony LYT-700C main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The front camera will be a 32MP sensor, ideal for selfies and video calls.

The smartphone will run on Motorola’s Hello UI based on Android 15. While Motorola has not officially confirmed the software update policy, the brand has typically offered three years of OS updates and four years of security patches on similar models.

A large 5,500mAh battery will power the Moto G96, supported by 68W wired fast charging. There is no confirmation yet on wireless charging support, and it may not be included considering the price segment.

The phone will come with a plastic frame and an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric security. Its overall design continues Motorola’s trend of stylish finishes with practical features.

The Moto G96 is shaping up to be a well-rounded smartphone choice in the mid-range market.
