Mike Sellars has been hired as Vice President of the Chief Technology Office (CTO) by NEC Australia in order to oversee its technology strategy.
NEC’s continued dedication to creating solutions for corporate and government clients, with a growing emphasis on innovation and technological leadership, is reflected in the new position. Sellars’ appointment underscores NEC’s involvement in the region and intends to improve interaction with partners and customers in Western Australia while strengthening the company’s national capabilities. Sellars is based in Perth, which is home to NEC’s Australian Centre of Excellence in digital government.
Sellars, an IT leader with more than 25 years of expertise in business transformation, innovation, and technology strategy, returns to NEC after holding key positions there in the past. He has made significant contributions to NEC’s GovNext program. Before returning, he was Chief Technology Officer at Datacom, where he oversaw digital solutions and strategic projects.
Regarding Sellars’ hiring, Keith Morrison, Senior Vice President – Digital Government | Digital Finance at NEC Australia, underlined its importance to NEC’s strategy: “The appointment of Mike Sellars as Vice President of our newly created Chief Technology Office underscores NEC’s commitment to our next era of technology leadership and innovation in Australia.
“With his extensive expertise, industry knowledge, and proven track record, Mike will be instrumental in shaping NEC’s technology direction and delivering high-value, future-ready solutions for our clients.”
Sellars will oversee solution development, improve NEC’s architectural practice, and propel the expansion of NEC’s managed services and digital products in his role as Vice President-Chief Technology Office.
Commenting on his new role, Sellars stated: “NEC has a strong legacy of delivering innovative, high-impact technology solutions, and I’m excited to build on that foundation.
“With a focus on driving technology strategy and enhancing NEC’s digital and managed services, I look forward to working with the team on transformative solutions for our customers.”
Sellars’ hiring is in line with NEC’s larger initiative to strengthen its senior leadership group, positioning the business for a new stage of expansion and technical development. In light of Paul Reed’s retirement, NEC recently appointed a number of top leadership figures, including Lynne Barry as Vice President of Legal & Compliance and Godwin Chai as Head of Sales Australia. These hires demonstrate NEC’s commitment to building a strong leadership team to meet its clients’ evolving demands.
