Midea introduces 6 arm humanoid robot Miro U for advanced factory automation

A major leap in industrial robotics was showcased as Midea unveiled its next generation humanoid robot Miro U at an event in Guangzhou, China. The new robot is the world’s first to feature a six arm wheel leg design and is built to handle complex industrial tasks with high efficiency.

Miro U is an upgraded version of Midea’s earlier wheeled humanoid robot that began operations in August at the company’s Jingzhou factory. The earlier model worked alongside autonomous mobile robots, single arm four wheel robots, large industrial robotic systems, and human workers. The newly launched Miro U will soon be added to this setup to further improve factory operations.

Midea Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Wei Chang confirmed that Miro U is the third generation model in the company’s humanoid robot series. The robot supports vertical lifting and full 360 degree rotation in place. It is equipped with six bionic mechanical arms that offer high precision control along with fast switching end effector modules for different tasks. Midea has developed the entire technology stack in house.

The company plans to deploy Miro U at its high end washing machine factory in Wuxi by the end of 2025. Once deployed, the robot is expected to improve takt time and raise production line adjustment efficiency by up to 30 percent.

Wei also shared Midea’s broader vision for humanoid robotics. The industrial focused Miro series has now completed three development stages. Meanwhile, the Mila series, designed for commercial and home use, is currently in its final testing phase. Midea plans to introduce Mila robots at offline experience stores in 2026, where they will be used for customer guidance and interactive product demonstrations.

The company said it will continue to increase its investment in artificial intelligence and robotics. Large scale use of humanoid robots remains a key part of Midea’s long term strategy.

In related developments, Unitree recently introduced its first wheeled humanoid robot with vision, gripping, and self learning features. Dobot has also revealed a new low cost robot dog that is gaining attention for its smart capabilities.
