Mid-sized global capability centres are set to create 40,000 new jobs in India by the end of 2026, bringing the total workforce in this segment to over 260,000, according to data from a talent solutions company shared with sources.
Around 120 new mid-sized GCCs are expected to be set up across key sectors including software, banking, finance and accounting, insurance, and retail. These centres are being launched by global companies with annual revenues ranging from 300 million to 2 billion dollars.
Smitha Hemmigae, managing director at the talent firm, said hiring efforts will focus on major talent hubs such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune and Gurugram. The most in-demand roles include AI and ML engineering, data analytics, cloud engineering, cybersecurity, full-stack development, product management and solution architecture. There is also growing demand for non-tech roles in finance and accounting, supply chain, procurement and digital marketing.
“Their catchment pool of talent is from GCCs, startups, product companies and the top 8-10 percent of the service provider landscape, who could become a site leader for a mid-sized company,” Hemmigae said.
Unlike large multinational companies, mid-market GCCs often work with tighter budgets. As a result, they focus more on cost-efficiency and rapid market entry, especially when it comes to digital transformation projects.
Data from the same firm shows that from 2019 to 2024, talent in mid-sized GCCs grew by 46 percent, compared to a 34 percent rise in non-mid-sized GCCs. Consulting data also indicates that hiring in the mid-market GCC segment is growing at a rate of 10 to 12 percent annually, which is 1 to 2 percent higher than the industry average.
Despite their smaller scale, these GCCs are evolving into specialised talent hubs. They are actively recruiting for advanced technical and functional skills, in some cases even more aggressively than larger enterprises.
