Meta to Invest $50 Billion in Louisiana AI Data Center

Meta is building its largest artificial intelligence data center in Richland Parish, Louisiana, with an estimated cost of 50 billion US dollars, President Donald Trump said during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday. The massive facility is expected to provide the computational power needed to support advanced digital infrastructure, including artificial intelligence workloads.

According to reports, Meta has partnered with US bond giant PIMCO and alternative asset manager Blue Owl Capital to lead a 29 billion US dollar financing plan for the data center project. Earlier announcements from the company indicated that it had already committed more than 10 billion US dollars for setting up the facility.

The Louisiana data center marks a key part of Meta’s wider artificial intelligence ambitions. In June, the company reorganised its AI division under Superintelligence Labs, a move that came after the departure of senior executives and a muted response to its open source Llama 4 model. The restructuring signalled a new strategy to scale up AI research and infrastructure.

Mark Zuckerberg, Chief Executive Officer of Meta, recently stated that the company plans to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in building multiple large scale AI data centers for Superintelligence. This is part of his broader push to secure top engineering talent and strengthen Meta’s position in the competitive AI sector.
