Meta smart glasses enter India with Oakley Vanguard and Ray-Ban Gen 2

Expanding its hardware presence in India, Meta has launched the Oakley Meta Vanguard and Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 smart glasses in the country. The devices are now available for purchase through leading e-commerce platforms.

The smart glasses have been developed by Meta in partnership with sports equipment maker Oakley and eyewear group EssilorLuxottica. While Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 succeeds the earlier Ray-Ban Meta Glasses, the Oakley Meta Vanguard is positioned for athletes and outdoor activity users. Both models feature Meta AI integration, allowing users to interact with Meta AI or handle calls hands-free.

Pricing for the Oakley Meta Vanguard in India starts at Rs. 52,300. It is available in 4 variants: Black with Prizm 24K, White with Prizm Black, Black with Prizm Road, and White with Prizm Sapphire. The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 starts at Rs. 39,900 and comes in 3 styles — Headliner, Skyler, and Wayfarer — with seasonal colour options such as Shiny Cosmic Blue, Shiny Mystic Violet, and Shiny Asteroid Grey.

Both models are available starting today (Thursday) via Amazon and Flipkart.

The Oakley Meta Vanguard is designed as a performance-focused option. It features a wraparound Oakley-style frame, weighs 66 g, and carries an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. The Prizm Lens technology is designed to block sunlight, wind, and dust. The glasses include a 12-megapixel camera with a 122-degree field of view. Video recording options include 1080p at 30 fps for up to 5 minutes, 1080p at 60 fps for 3 minutes, or 3K at 30 fps for 3 minutes.

The Vanguard includes open-ear speakers, a 5-microphone system, an Action button for camera use, and a secondary customizable button. It supports Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, offers 32 GB storage, delivers up to 9 hours of use, and up to 36 hours with the charging case. Meta has also partnered with Garmin, enabling voice access to health and fitness data when paired with compatible smartwatches.

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 retains the Wayfarer-style design and features a 12-megapixel camera with LED indicators. It supports video recording up to 3K at 30 fps and photos at 3,024 x 4,032 pixels. Meta has announced future software updates for slow-motion and hyperlapse modes. Battery life reaches up to 8 hours, with an additional 48 hours from the charging case. Hands-free control is enabled via “Hey Meta AI” voice commands.
