Meta Reality Labs chief Andrew Bosworth has reportedly called an urgent all hands meeting for his team next week. The meeting is being described internally as the most important one of the year, creating concern across the division. While the exact agenda has not been shared, it is believed that the discussion could involve major decisions linked to the unit’s continued financial losses.
According to a report by a technology publication, Bosworth has asked employees to attend the meeting in person on January 14. This is said to be unusual for the division, which mostly relies on virtual meetings. Some managers have reportedly instructed staff to pause their work and be physically present.
Reality Labs has faced heavy losses since it was formed. In the third quarter of 2025, the division recorded an operating loss of 4.4 billion dollars. These losses were reported despite strong revenue, mainly due to high spending on augmented reality and virtual reality research and development.
Meta has also given a cautious outlook for the division. During the company’s earnings call, chief financial officer Susan Li said, “We expect that Q4 Reality Labs revenue will be lower than last year for a couple of reasons that I alluded to. The biggest factor is we’re lapping the introduction of Quest 3S in Q4 of last year, and we don’t have a new headset in the market this year.”
The upcoming meeting is expected to clarify the future direction of Reality Labs as Meta continues to invest heavily in immersive technologies.
