Meesho has announced the creation of nearly 12 lakh seasonal jobs across its seller and logistics network ahead of the festive period, marking a 40 per cent increase compared with last year. Over 70 per cent of these job opportunities are expected to come from tier III and tier IV cities, reflecting the platform’s expanding presence in smaller markets during peak demand.
On the seller side, about 5.5 lakh temporary workers have been hired. They are being trained through short, role specific modules in sorting, manufacturing and packaging to help maintain efficiency in fulfilment. Sellers have also widened their product assortments, curated festive collections and conducted inventory audits to minimise stock shortages and ensure better availability across categories and price ranges.
In logistics, Meesho has partnered with leading third party providers along with its in house logistics arm Valmo. Together they have enabled approximately 6.7 lakh seasonal job roles, which represents about 90 per cent growth in logistics hiring over last year. These jobs cover first mile, middle mile and last mile roles including delivery associates, with responsibilities such as picking, loading, unloading and handling returns. The distribution of these roles is aimed at supporting speed and reliability across the network during festive surges.
Sourabh Pandey, CXO, Fulfilment and Experience at Meesho, said, “The festive season is when many Indian households place their trust in e-commerce. With that trust comes the responsibility to ensure seller readiness and seamless logistics at scale. In anticipation of this peak period, we have created over ~12 lakh seasonal job opportunities, with a significant share emerging from India’s tier-lll cities. By empowering Indian businesses, manufacturers, and logistics partners, our focus remains clear, to make e-commerce inclusive and accessible for every stakeholder.”
According to the company, these measures will help sellers and logistics partners scale their operations while maintaining product quality, accessibility and service standards throughout the festive quarter.
