Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced a major investment of ₹35,000 crore to set up a new automobile manufacturing facility in Khoraj, Gujarat. The project aims to boost the company’s production capacity and strengthen the state’s automotive ecosystem.
The proposed plant will be built on approximately 1,750 acres of land allotted by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) and is expected to produce up to 1 million vehicles annually. The facility is also set to generate direct employment for around 12,000 people.
The investment letter was handed over by Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel during a ceremony in Gandhinagar. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi and Maruti Suzuki Whole-Time Director Sunil Kakkar were also present.
Welcoming the development, CM Patel said the new plant would catalyse the growth of ancillary units and micro, small, and medium enterprises in the region, creating a strong automobile manufacturing cluster in Gujarat.
This expansion underscores Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to scaling up production while contributing to job creation and industrial growth in the state.
