Salesforce chief executive Mark Benioff has said that he will no longer use ChatGPT after spending two hours testing Google’s new AI model, Gemini 3.0. Benioff shared the update on X, explaining that the latest Google model has convinced him to switch permanently.
Google chief executive Sundar Pichai recently described Gemini 3.0 as the company’s “most intelligent model, that combines all of Gemini’s capabilities together so you can bring any idea to life.” Benioff said his experience with the model showed major improvements across many areas.
In his post, he wrote, “Holy shit. I’ve used ChatGPT every day for 3 years. Just spent 2 hours on Gemini 3. I’m not going back. The leap is insane — reasoning, speed, images, video… everything is sharper and faster. It feels like the world just changed, again. ❤️ 🤖”
Benioff’s comments underline the rising competitive pressure on OpenAI as Google and other technology companies push forward with their next generation of AI systems. Industry leaders have also acknowledged the strong performance of Gemini 3.0. Tesla chief executive Elon Musk congratulated Pichai on the launch, and also praised the work of DeepMind head Demis Hassabis. OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman posted, “Congrats to Google on Gemini 3! Looks like a great model.”
Altman also addressed the development in an internal memo, noting that there could be “temporary economic headwinds” as new models appear in the market. However, he expressed confidence in the company’s direction. He wrote that OpenAI is strong enough to handle competition and added that “having most of our research team focused on really getting to superintelligence is critically important.”
The reaction from industry leaders shows how quickly the AI landscape is shifting as companies race to develop more advanced and more capable systems.
