MakeMyTrip Unveils Myra: AI-Powered Multilingual Travel Assistant for Seamless Trip Planning

In a major step forward for the travel industry, MakeMyTrip has launched Myra, a multilingual AI-based Trip Planning Assistant aimed at delivering a more natural and intuitive user experience. Currently in its beta stage, Myra allows users to communicate through voice or text in English, Hindi, or a blend of both, commonly known as Hinglish.

Designed to serve as a full-fledged travel companion, Myra supports users from the early planning stages through to booking and post-travel assistance. It handles open-ended questions, understands complex user requests, and provides real-time, personalised recommendations. This marks a clear advancement from MakeMyTrip’s earlier AI capabilities.

The introduction of Myra reflects the company’s broader vision of making travel more inclusive and user-friendly across India’s linguistically diverse population. With an increasing number of digital users preferring native languages, Myra bridges a vital gap by supporting two of India’s most commonly spoken languages.

Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of MakeMyTrip, highlighted that the core aim of Myra is to bring travel planning closer to everyday users. He explained that by using generative AI, the platform better connects user intent with actions, and can now reach deeper into India’s “Bharat heartland,” where English-only interfaces often create accessibility challenges.

Sanjay Mohan, Group Chief Technology Officer at MakeMyTrip, described Myra as one of the company’s most ambitious technological innovations. He revealed that the assistant is built on custom-developed language models and real-time scheduling engines that operate together to ensure fast, precise, and useful responses. The technology supports planning and bookings across various travel services including flights, hotels, holiday packages, local transport, visa services, and foreign exchange.

At the core of Myra’s system is a network of specialised AI agents, each trained for a specific area of the travel process. This structure allows users to receive accurate and intelligent responses tailored to their unique needs. The assistant is powered by real-time intelligence that continually learns and adapts, improving its understanding and service delivery over time.

The launch of Myra is part of MakeMyTrip’s ongoing efforts to adopt and integrate generative AI across its platform. The company has already introduced GenAI tools such as Fare Lock and Zero Cancellation to improve decision-making and booking flexibility. Myra now takes this effort a step further by offering a smarter, more accessible, and inclusive solution for travel planning.

As Myra continues to evolve during its beta testing phase, it is expected to have a growing impact, especially among users who value language comfort, convenience, and trustworthy digital support for their travel plans. With this innovation, MakeMyTrip is redefining the travel experience for India’s expanding base of digital-first users.
