Maharashtra introduces policy to expand global capability centres by 2025

The Maharashtra government has announced the Global Capability Centres Policy 2025, an initiative designed to attract multinational companies and strengthen the state’s position as a preferred destination for global business services. The policy aims to support corporations seeking to set up back office and specialised operations in the state.

The policy highlights lower operational costs and simpler regulatory procedures. The government is offering incentives such as tax rebates and infrastructure support to encourage global companies to invest. The initiative, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, is expected to boost the state’s economic growth and create new opportunities in technology and business services by 2025.

A major part of the policy focuses on talent development. The state plans to strengthen education and training frameworks so that local professionals are prepared to meet global standards. This comes at a time when many Indian states are competing to attract foreign investment, and Maharashtra is building on its strong business environment, connectivity and strategic location.

Some critics have expressed concerns about the environmental impact of rapid industrial growth. The government has said it will ensure responsible development and follow environmental norms. Officials believe that the arrival of more global capability centres will create new jobs and support the growth of related industries, helping the wider economy.

Industry experts say the policy will succeed only if it is implemented effectively, especially in building strong infrastructure and maintaining stability to support investor confidence. They also note that the policy could become a model for other states if Maharashtra achieves its goals.

The Global Capability Centres Policy 2025 is seen as an important step towards reshaping Maharashtra’s economic future. With a focus on skill development, inclusive growth and sustainable practices, the state aims to create long term economic progress while balancing social and environmental responsibilities.
