Maharashtra Cabinet Approves Global Capacity Centre 2025 Policy to Boost Investments and Competitiveness

The Maharashtra cabinet has approved the Global Capacity Centre 2025 policy to position the state as a leading destination for global investments. The policy aims to strengthen Maharashtra’s competitiveness in rapidly growing sectors, encourage international collaboration, and create a supportive environment for new investments.

“The policy is in line with the Viksit Bharat 2047 and will encourage investors,” the government stated. It also aligns with India’s broader goal of achieving a trillion dollar economy by 2030.

The Confederation of Indian Industry recently released a Model State GCC Policy, providing a framework for states to design strategies that accelerate the growth of Global Capacity Centres beyond metropolitan areas and generate large-scale, high-quality employment opportunities.

India has become the undisputed global hub for GCCs, hosting over 1,800 centres that employ 2.16 million professionals and contribute nearly sixty-eight billion dollars to the national GDP. The sector’s growth highlights the combined strength of India’s talent, infrastructure, policy environment, and support from both the central and state governments.

In addition, the Maharashtra cabinet approved a comprehensive cancer treatment policy to ensure citizens have access to quality care. The policy proposes a three-tier approach to delivering cancer treatment services across the state.

The new policies reflect Maharashtra’s focus on attracting global investment, creating jobs, and improving healthcare infrastructure to support sustainable growth and development.
