The IndiaAI Mission, which was approved in March 2024, has allocated ₹10,732 crore to the state capital for the development of the AI ecosystem. Plans to establish Lucknow as the nation’s first AI city are underway at the time of the transfer.
The project is a component of a larger effort to establish Uttar Pradesh as the next IT hub.
The planned investment is intended for an AI innovation center, 10,000 GPUs, and multi-modal language models. The draft AI policy in accordance with Vision 2047 will soon be released by the state government.
The state government claims that this investment is 67% greater than that of any other technology infrastructure in the nation.
In addition, a sophisticated AI-based traffic control system is being suggested for Lucknow.
An AI-enabled smart traffic system is already being implemented in Varanasi, the seat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In collaboration with IT behemoths like Microsoft, Intel, Google, and Guvi, the state government’s flagship program, AI Pragya, is training over 10 lakh youngsters, teachers, gram pradhans, government workers, and farmers in AI, machine learning, data analytics, and cybersecurity.
Every month, the state government wants to teach 1.5 lakh individuals, and part of the program includes industry-ready credentials.
In Gautam Buddh Nagar and 17 municipal corporations, AI-powered technologies including CCTV surveillance, face recognition, number plate monitoring, and SOS warning systems have been put into place.
The police control rooms and the 112 hotline are directly connected to them. Furthermore, 70 jails are using the “Jarvis” AI monitoring technology, which ensures inmate observation around-the-clock.
10 lakh farmers are being connected to AI-based technologies like drone mapping, smart irrigation, pest monitoring, and digital market access as part of the UP Agris Project. Ten thousand women’s self-help organizations are also active partners in the campaign.
The revenue department uses AI algorithms and satellite imagery to manage records and consolidate land.
This has made it possible for precise digital mapping, open land distribution, and less conflicts.
In 25 areas, 57 unmanned AI-enabled check gates have been installed to safeguard mineral resources. Weighbridges with AI cameras, geofencing, and RFID tags are being used to monitor illegal mining.
According to the state government, the first AI-based breast cancer screening facility in India has been set up at Fatehpur.
