DGP Rajeev Krishna inaugurated the call centre for the 1930 National Cybercrime Helpline at the DCP South office in Kalli Paschim, Lucknow, on Wednesday as part of an effort to improve the state’s cybercrime response infrastructure.
“To address the surge in cyber-related complaints, the state expanded its 1930 cyber helpline infrastructure. A new 30-seat hi-tech call centre was operationalised in Kalli Paschim, complementing the existing 20-seat centre at UP 112 headquarters. This new facility will operate around the clock, with 94 trained police personnel, ranging from constables to inspectors, deployed,” he said.
A group of fifty agents will file complaints about financial cyber scams, according to the DGP. The Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), the Cyber Crime Headquarters, the relevant cyber cells, and local police stations will all immediately display complaints that are received here.
The Cyber Fraud Mitigation Centre (CFMC), which is based on I4C, will shortly be built at the same site, he continued. To guarantee that cases are resolved quickly, police officers, bank representatives, and telecom authorities will all be housed under one roof.
He added that people calling on 1930 will get quick responses in cases of financial fraud. “You can lock your complaints and get bank accounts frozen by making a call to 1930, and if it is done in the golden period as per RBI guidelines, then there are chances of getting back money lost in cyber fraud,” he said.
Additional DG, Cyber Cell, Binod Singh, who envisioned the entire project and materialized it, said that around Rs 1.5 crore budget was sanctioned for the project. “The project is set up in coordination with the MHA,” he said.
According to Singh, on the first day, the cell received 6,000 calls.
