Lucid Bots raises $20 million to scale cleaning drones and robotics production

Amid rising demand for safer and more efficient building maintenance solutions, robotics startup Lucid Bots is expanding its operations with fresh funding.

The U.S.-based company has raised $20 million in a Series B round co-led by Cubit Capital and Idea Fund Partners. This brings its total funding to $34 million. The investment will support scaling production of its window-washing drones and autonomous cleaning robots.

Lucid Bots has seen strong demand over the past year for its Sherpa cleaning drones and Lavo pressure-washing robots. The growth is driven by the need for safer alternatives in high-risk maintenance tasks.

Founder and CEO Andrew Ashur highlighted the company’s focus on real-world impact. “We’re not just in the lab… we’re out on job sites getting work done,” he said, stressing the company’s approach of delivering measurable performance instead of just demonstrations.

Founded in 2018 and based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Lucid Bots designs and manufactures its robots domestically. Its solutions are widely used by cleaning companies to handle dangerous tasks like exterior window cleaning, reducing the need for workers to operate at risky heights.

The company’s growth has accelerated significantly. It took nearly 5 years to sell its first 100 robots, but it is now nearing 1,000 deployed units, showing strong market adoption.

The newly raised funds will be used to expand hiring, boost manufacturing capacity, and meet increasing customer demand. Ashur noted that the company is currently receiving more demo requests than it can handle, indicating strong interest from potential clients.

Beyond window cleaning, Lucid Bots is exploring additional use cases such as painting, waterproofing, and sealing. These applications will use the same robotic platform to expand into broader infrastructure maintenance.

The funding reflects a wider shift in the robotics industry towards practical, revenue-generating solutions. With ongoing labor shortages and safety concerns in sectors like construction and maintenance, such technologies are gaining traction as scalable alternatives.
