LG to set up new global capability centre in Noida

South Korean multinational LG Corporation is set to establish a new global capability centre (GCC) in Noida’s Phase II industrial area with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore. The upcoming state-of-the-art facility, spread over seven acres, will focus on advanced research and development, marking a major milestone in LG’s India expansion strategy.

Officials confirmed that the new R&D centre will create around 500 direct employment opportunities, “further strengthening Noida’s position as a preferred destination for high-tech investment and global innovation.”

A high-level LG delegation met Noida CEO Lokesh M on Tuesday to discuss the project. The CEO stated that the company had been encouraged to prioritise local hiring. “Of the 500 jobs, over 90% will be given to Indians. A company investing this much money will naturally go beyond R&D and expand into broader technology domains. The facility will not just be a research centre but a full-fledged hub that integrates innovation, design and digital technology,” he said.

He added that the project reflects India’s emergence as a key global centre for advanced R&D by multinational corporations. The Noida unit will complement LG’s existing research operations in India and overseas.

The delegation and the Noida CEO also discussed finalising the project’s plans, including construction timelines, infrastructure coordination and regulatory clearances. The delegation reaffirmed LG’s long-term commitment to India, highlighting the facility’s strategic role in developing next-generation technologies in consumer electronics, smart appliances and digital innovation.

LG’s investment in Noida comes as part of its broader India growth plan that combines manufacturing scale with strong R&D capabilities. The company has already begun building its third manufacturing plant at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, which was announced in May 2025 and is expected to become operational by the end of 2026.

Under the Uttar Pradesh GCC Policy 2024, the state aims to position Noida, Lucknow and Varanasi as major global hubs for technology and capability centres.
