Lenskart is set to enter the smart wearables market with the launch of its AI camera smartglasses, ‘B by Lenskart,’ expected to debut in India by the end of December 2025. The eyewear brand said the new device is designed to blend comfort with advanced technology while opening its platform to developers from various industries.
The company announced that it will make the AI and camera technology behind the smartglasses accessible to developers and consumer app creators in India. This initiative could enable integrations across everyday categories such as food delivery, fitness, and entertainment, transforming the glasses into a versatile, multifunctional wearable rather than just a lifestyle accessory.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset, which is also used in several leading augmented reality devices worldwide, B by Lenskart will feature an integrated Sony camera for hands-free photo and video capture. It will also include an AI assistant powered by Gemini 2.5 Live, Google’s conversational AI system, allowing users to interact naturally and perform tasks such as hands-free UPI payments, live translations, and real-time well-being tracking.
Lenskart emphasised that the glasses have been designed for everyday comfort, weighing around 40 grams—almost 20 per cent lighter than many other smartglasses currently available. The company described the product as “glasses first,” ensuring it feels natural and easy to wear throughout the day.
This move aligns with Lenskart’s broader ambition to build India’s first full-stack wearables ecosystem that integrates hardware, AI, and software innovation. The company has already made strategic investments in technology startups such as Ajna Lens, which focuses on extended reality (XR) and AI solutions, as part of this long-term vision.
Industry experts estimate that the global smartglasses market could reach between USD 4 billion and USD 5 billion by 2030, growing at an annual rate of about 30 per cent. India is expected to play a key role in this expansion, and Lenskart’s foray into AI-powered eyewear positions it among the early innovators shaping the country’s emerging smart wearables market.
