Lenskart, a leading eyewear company, has announced a strategic investment in Ajna Lens, an artificial intelligence (AI) startup specializing in extended reality (XR) technology. This move comes as Lenskart prepares for a prospective $1 billion Initial Public Offering (IPO) and signals its strong intent to venture into the rapidly evolving smart glasses market.
The investment provides Lenskart with crucial access to Ajna Lens’s advanced AI-powered XR technology. Ajna Lens is recognized for its expertise in cutting-edge wearable technology, notably having received a prestigious CES Innovation Award in 2023 for its mixed reality headset, AjnaXR.
“This investment marks the next chapter in our Smart Glass journey, which began with the launch of Phonic, our audio glasses, in December 2024,” said Peyush Bansal, Co-founder and CEO of Lenskart. “As the Smart Glasses category scales rapidly, our partnership with Ajna Lens strategically positions us to accelerate product innovation in this space.”
Lenskart’s foray into smart eyewear will prioritize two key aspects: seamless vision correction and enhanced wearability. This strategic partnership aims to combine Lenskart’s extensive experience in optics and eyewear distribution with Ajna Lens’s innovative XR capabilities, paving the way for next-generation smart glasses designed for everyday use.
